Review of Literature on Supporting and Strengthening Child-Caregiver Relationships (Parenting)

Many children, and the families and communities who care for them, are directly and indirectly affected by HIV and by the contexts of poverty, inequality, and social instability in which the disease has flourished. To respond to the needs of families and communities, AIDSTAR-One has conducted a literature search focusing on children, parenting, and caregiving. This review summarizes the findings of interventions to support and strengthen caregiving and identifies general principles and lessons learned to support and strengthen child-caregiver relationships in contexts in which children and families are affected by HIV.
